Menorca 2016

What a busy couple of months! There's a lot to catch up on, most importantly - my holiday!

I went to Menorca with my family, we stayed in a villa at the top of a steep hill - the views were beautiful. Walking up to the villa was hard work, especially with all the shopping! I think this was the first holiday I lost weight by the end of it - not a bad thing! We did so much swimming, walking, lounging and sunning ourselves. Also bought ourselves snorkels, so we could check out the fish off the beach. It was so much fun!

The best part of the holiday has to be spending a morning doing something I never thought I would do. I went scuba diving...in the sea. From the beach. It was...terrifying and amazing all at once. I was not very good at staying the right way up, or with staying at the right depth. Our diving instructor took me by the hand to help me stay in the right place and not be left drifting behind. I was really grateful for his help. Once I wasn't worried about rolling over/drowning/my head exploding, I was able to look around and enjoy seeing the ocean wildlife. It was so surreal, and incredible. I can't get over how bizarre and beautiful it was. There was one moment, when we heard this loud noise coming from all round us, we had no idea what it was until we saw the underside of a speedboat going overhead...eerie.

We all had a wonderful time, it was really relaxing and I'm so glad to have been able to get away!

#BLOGTOBER14 - Day 21

Helene in Between Blogtober

Day 21 - Dream Vacation

I don't even know where to begin with this. There are so many places I want to visit...I'll list a few, and of them would be a dream!

1. Greece. I would love to explore the Greek islands, see the ancient ruins and enjoy the sunshine.

2. Austin, Texas. This one is a little more for Andrew than for me, but there's an amazing underground river that I would love to visit
B E A U-tiful
3. Universal Studios & Disneyland, Orlando, Florida. I have already been here, but I would absolutely love to go again. Despite the awful flights.

4. Canada. Again, another one for Andrew, but also for me becuase after Pip goig and telling me about how amazing it was, I would like to see it for myself.

5. Canary Islands. Hot, Beach, Sun, Sea, Beautiful. Yes please.

6. New York. Just because.

7. Boston. I have family over in boston, and I would like to see Boston.

8. Egypt. I've always wanted to go here, I loved learning about the Egyptians in primary school, and I have wanted to go to Egypt ever since.

9. Amsterdam. Lots to see here too

10. Germany. Loads of history

11. Rome/Venice - rich with history and beautiful places

12. South of France. I am actually going there next year - really looking forward to it!

I could literally wax lyrical about all of the places I want to go, so I think I'd better leave it there!

Where do you dream about going?

It's the little things...

That make me happy.

Just had a big dinner of pasta bake with meatballs, (yum) and then mum asks the question 'apple tart or jam roly poly?' I jumped up shouting 'jam roly poly and custard!!'. The prospect of eating a super yummy desert made me so happy.  I just had to write about it.

Clearly I have a food problem. Getting excited about a meal just proves this...

This got me thinking about desserts and what traditional holiday desserts other people have. Surely it isn't just my family that have special desserts... (excluding Christmas pudding and Christmas cake, of course)

Here's a few of my favorite Christmas desserts:

Jam roly poly (duh)

Apple crumble

Cheese and crackers (not technically a dessert, but I have it in the evening on Christmas day)

Birthday cake (mini-me's birthday is Christmas Eve, still counts as a holiday dessert, right?)

What are your favourite holiday desserts?
